My Dad is Sylvester Stalloneing Pneumonia

My dad has been at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center since Friday, January 9, 2015, with the flu and pneumonia. Many of his wonderful family, coworkers and friends have been reaching out to us to wish him a complete and speedy recovery. I decided to collect these messages in one place so please post a comment here for my dad if you wish (by clicking the "comment" link below). You are not required to include a Sly reference in your comment, but it can't hurt. If you and my dad share mutual friends then please share this with them.

I will not update this blog like a CaringBridge. There is nothing wrong with CaringBridge but since I pretend that all my blog posts are of high quality, I'll forgo quantity updates. I also do not know if my dad would appreciate public updates. We are thrilled that so many people care about my dad and want updates, but we can't keep up with the number of inquiries. For groups (for example, his coworkers and his Sylvester Stallone fan club members [joke, I think]): please designate one point of contact to obtain updates from me, my brother or my mom.

Thank you.

Jeff,
We miss you here at ASI. We wait for your triumphant return just like how Derek Jeter came back from his broken ankle.

Jeff.
Wishing you a speedy recovery and a quick return to work. No one knows the FAR like you! As for a Sylvester Stallone reference, it is rumored that he worked as an usher at the Loew's Kings movie theater on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn. So did I! So, since Sly is as good as my colleague, I am conveying his best wishes too! Get well soon.

Hi Jeff-

Just heard about your illness and wish you the very best as well as a fast recovery. It should be no time at all when we hear you are watching wrestling matches and figuring out the odds of the Nats winning the World Series.

My best to you, Debbie and your sons.

Jeff and family continue uppermost in our prayers. Reflecting this morning, two things occur to me

Psalm 34:2-8 (http://www.usccb.org/bible/psalms/34:2)
"I sought the LORD, and he answered me, delivered me from all my fears. Look to Him and be radiant, and your faces may not blush for shame. This poor one cried out and the LORD heard, and from all his distress He saved him. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, and He saves them."

AND

"To beat this guy, you need speed - you don't have it ... Hit this guy (pneumonia) so hard you'll rattle his ancestors. HORSEPOWER. Let's start building some health making bombs."

My family and I want to thank you all for your thoughts, wishes and words of encouragement. My dad made a miraculous recovery and after 17 days in the hospital--including 15 in the ER and intermediate care unit--he is now home. Though it will take a long time, he will make a full recovery and he accepts this challenge. Thank you again.
Ben

Hi Jeff,

Just read Ben's blog. I hadn't realized just how serious your condition has been. I was relieved to see you have been released to complete your recovery at home; that's a huge step. Please know I'll continue to lift you up in prayers for a swift and complete recovery.

I dont know you friend but I know how it feels. I found your story because my dad has been taking into hospital for the 3rd time with pnemonia, hes 78. Reading your story, I had tears streaming down my face. I am so frightened. Like you, I see my dad as my superhero, he had a heart attack in 2008 and got fitted with a pacemaker. I hope and pray to Jesus everyday for his health. I do hope your dad is ok and I pray for you and all your familys health. From Jamie.
